Introducing the Future of Bag Making
GRANITE CITY, IL, FEBRUARY 2005 - In addition to our extensive range of multiwall bag capabilities, Gateway Packaging has purchased the Windmoeller & Hoelscher PB 2555 Pinch Bottomer Bag Machine and AM 8115 Tuber. The only one of its kind in the country today, this new packaging machine allows Gateway to offer its customers an alternative way to package their product. Gateway will be calling this new bag style the MBOM or Mitered Bottom Open Mouth bag.

The new Pinch Bottomer creates a mitered corner bottom with an ultrasonic seal. The result? Our customers receive a more stable bag with no leaking and an exclusive non-sift feature. A customer’s product can now arrive in far fresher condition with less breakage and no leaks. In short, an all around better bag.

This Pinch Bottomer bag machine promises and delivers a stronger seal on its bags. With a strengthened seal, what’s inside the bag is better protected against contamination, moisture, oxygen, grease and any possible infestation.

In addition, we know our customers are aware of the serious damage that can occur to their product during shipping and handling. Product that overhangs the pallet can lead to damaged bags and lost product throughout the supply chain. Fortunately, this unique miter bottom feature creates a “flat bottom” bag shape that better fits and stabilizes the pallet. With less damage, productivity increases due to less product returns.

Another innovative feature that the miter bottom bag style will provide is improved graphics capability. The unique shape of this bag provides an increased graphics panel on the bottom, or shelf display end of the bag. The MBOM allows our customers a space to advertise their product that is as wide as the bag gusset. No longer will our customers have to worry about product visibility on the store shelf.

With the introduction of this innovative packaging system, Gateway is taking bag manufacturing to the next generation and beyond. Since 1982, we have grown to a full service packaging company, offering performance packaging, which includes lidding, labels, rollstock and bags, as well as in-house printing and package design. This new packaging option, the MBOM bag, will allow our customers to reach new levels of productivity and visibility. The next step begins with the installation of this equipment in February 2005. Production will be in full swing by March 2005. We look forward to providing this high quality, cost saving innovation for you.
